Corinthians Paulista's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Daniel Gaspard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Afonso Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Gaspard having to interfere. After a rather tough play, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Luiz Fábio Viana got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Luís Eduardo da Fonseca didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 31st minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Arribeños AFC's Daniel Gaspard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Nascimento in the 56th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luiz Fábio Viana during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Domingo Rufio in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Eduardo da Fonseca prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
