Andrézinho Mattos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcel Passos in the 3rd minute of the match. 6 minutes into the match, Real Cruzeiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Koban came free, but Andrézinho Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Marcel Passos came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Limoeiro-PE FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcel Passos couldn't finish the play. In the 12th minute Júnior Galego shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrézinho Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Limoeiro-PE FC's Yan Koban got a free kick in the 20th minute. Paulo Queiroz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edgar da Costa in the 28th minute. After 31 minutes of play, Limoeiro-PE FC's Júnior Galego made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andrézinho Mattos was left in no man's land by his defense there! 35 minutes into the game, Limoeiro-PE FC's Júnior Galego nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andrézinho Mattos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Marcel Passos lost his temper 47 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Severino da Costa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Andrézinho Mattos was out of position in the 55 minute of play, and Donato Montenegro capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Donato Montenegro really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. In the 59th minute Cheito Molek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrézinho Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Júlio Arruda fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Real Cruzeiro FC's protests and gave Júlio Arruda a yellow card for diving instead. Júlio Arruda hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walmir Gaspar in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andrézinho Mattos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Donato Montenegro succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-4 in the 74th playminute. The supporters of Limoeiro-PE FC booed when Real Cruzeiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomé Soeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yan Koban sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Limoeiro-PE FC's Yan Koban got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cheito Molek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho Mattos having to interfere. Paulo Queiroz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yan Koban could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Andrézinho Mattos made a huge save. 97 minutes into the match, Limoeiro-PE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiano Carneiro came free, but Paulo Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Limoeiro-PE FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Limoeiro-PE FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
