Spectators: 7537 (Terracing: 5654, Seating: 1733, VIP seats: 150) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Luis Santana got the match started through his kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's goalkeeper Tor Rosenlund had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dalmo Santos. Dalmo Santos's late challenge caught a Santa Maradona's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dalmo Santos helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Santa Maradona booed when Gurdurão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalmo Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute Luis Santana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Denílson Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Octavio Txurio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilson Vianna was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. In the 22nd minute Luis Santana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Vianna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Santana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Denílson Moreira's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Tor Rosenlund skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 30th minute, Cecilio Ubarna ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Vianna was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 32nd minute Octavio Txurio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Luis Santana had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Vianna. Gurdurão's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luis Santana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Denílson Moreiras short, quick shot in the 39thth minute got Tor Rosenlund to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 41st minute Denílson Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tor Rosenlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Vianna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Santana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute, Luis Santana ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Vianna was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. The Gurdurão players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Santa Maradona were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Denílson Moreira to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Santa Maradona's Andres Jon got a free kick in the 51st minute. Denílson Moreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tor Rosenlund having to interfere. With a little luck, Gurdurão's Wilson Vianna got control of the ball when Octavio Txurio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Andres Jon hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. When Dalmo Santos came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Gurdurão fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dalmo Santos couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Denílson Moreira in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tor Rosenlund prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Denílson Moreira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gurdurão's supporters rose to their feet, but Denílson Moreira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tor Rosenlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Octavio Txurio kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Matías Machado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tor Rosenlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalmo Santos in the 72nd minute of play. Wilson Vianna was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Luis Santana capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luis Santana really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. In the 76th minute, Luis Santana made a precise shot to the right of Wilson Vianna. Gurdurão's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Wilson Vianna was a little too slow when Luis Santana got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 1-6. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Maradona's zone, Matías Machado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tor Rosenlund came out of the goal and Matías Machado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tor Rosenlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denílson Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. If Luis Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes Gurdurão got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Moreira. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Santa Maradona eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
