Colo-Colo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FK Řitka the free kick. After 6 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Koča Mendoza. When Zdislav Nádeníček fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FK Řitka's protests and gave Zdislav Nádeníček a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Colo-Colo booed when FK Řitka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zdislav Nádeníček didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eugen Šandor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucho Pérez in the 12th minute of the match. FK Řitka's Eugen Šandor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Lobos in the 15th minute of play. Eugen Šandor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexis Ardizzoni in the 24th minute of play. Eugen Šandor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manolito Neira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by FK Řitka's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bermejo Pretot was slow to take the kick. During this time Colo-Colo's players had a chance to rest. Colo-Colo's Bermejo Pretot was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Eugen Šandor in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 35th minute of the match Bermejo Pretot sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eugen Šandor skillfully saved the ball.
