C.'s Luís Paulo Velloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Cearense in the 4th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Cícero Pena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Lucca F.C booed when Mexilhão F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fábio Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flavinho Palmeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conrado Macedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dário Zonta got free with Luís Paulo Velloso in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute, Lucca F.C's Cícero Pena ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luís Paulo Velloso. Luís Paulo Velloso yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Cícero Pena came free with the goalkeeper in the 29th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Luís Paulo Velloso could save by the left post. Flavinho Palmeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Fábio Luz in the 30th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Cícero Pena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 34 minutes into the match, Lucca F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fábio Luz came free, but Flavinho Palmeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Lucca F.C defense, Róbson Passos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Flavinho Palmeira. The Lucca F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flavinho Palmeira should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute Conrado Macedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavinho Palmeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexilhão F. C.'s Luís Paulo Velloso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Mexilhão F. C. from getting a goal against them. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Cícero Pena sped through Mexilhão F. C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luís Paulo Velloso.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dráuzio Alvarenga to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dráuzio Alvarenga in the 55th minute of play forced Lucca F.C's goalkeeper Flavinho Palmeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Iuri Hoffmann came free, but Luís Paulo Velloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mexilhão F. C.'s Luís Fábio Luz got a free kick in the 61st minute. Flavinho Palmeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conrado Macedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 64 minutes into the match, Lucca F.C's goalkeeper Flavinho Palmeira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Fábio Luz. If Dráuzio Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonel Pereira during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 71st match minute, Lucca F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Pereira to maneuver through the defense. Flavinho Palmeira acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 72nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Conrado Macedo. Flavinho Palmeira was a little too slow when Róbson Passos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 73rd minute. The score was now 2-2. Róbson Passos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Flavinho Palmeira made a huge save. Despite being the better team, Mexilhão F. C. failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
