After 2 minutes, Alfredo Fernandes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the REAL VASCO RIO and the FC Colo - Colo players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to REAL VASCO RIO getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Alfredo Fernandes hit a great ball. Jakub Vesecký made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred Marinho in the 4th minute of play. Antonín Zátopek hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. If Horácio Damião had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to FC Colo - Colo getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Jakub Hausner hit a great ball. In the 27th minute, David Mládek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 31 minutes into the match, REAL VASCO RIO's goalkeeper Júlio Catarinense had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robert Maroušek. After a defensive mix-up in FC Colo - Colo's zone, Caco de Souza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jakub Vesecký came out of the goal and Caco de Souza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Alfredo Fernandes came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the REAL VASCO RIO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Fernandes couldn't finish the play. Robert Maroušek's late challenge caught a REAL VASCO RIO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Robert Maroušek helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th match minute, FC Colo - Colo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Maroušek to maneuver through the defense. If Alfredo Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The FC Colo - Colo players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. REAL VASCO RIO were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Antonín Zátopek stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Fred Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. REAL VASCO RIO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfredo Fernandes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 56thth minute tested the skills of Jakub Vesecký when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Fred Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. REAL VASCO RIO's Júlio Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Maroušek in the 59th minute of play. Alfredo Fernandes scored 0-2 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jakub Vesecký, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 72 minutes, Alfredo Fernandes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. REAL VASCO RIO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Fernandes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 81st minute Natã Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jakub Vesecký saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonín Zátopek in the 84th minute of play forced REAL VASCO RIO's goalkeeper Júlio Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 90 minutes into the match, FC Colo - Colo's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Fernandes came free, but Jakub Vesecký reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fred Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jakub Vesecký having to interfere. After 96 played minutes FC Colo - Colo got a freekick which was hit by Robert Maroušek. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the REAL VASCO RIO players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
