Chrisostomos Benakis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Hubert Donnet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giannis Kadoglou in the 25th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Giannis Kadoglou ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hubert Donnet was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Bacary Pincon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chrisostomos Benakis having to interfere. When Apostolis Frantzeskos fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PAOK FC's protests and gave Apostolis Frantzeskos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 36th minute, Apostolis Frantzeskos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. corsaire nantais were furious when Christian Rouet was red carded, 41 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. If Lakis Vernikos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Bacary Pincon took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Chrisostomos Benakis. Chrisostomos Benakis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Lakis Vernikos struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Hubert Donnet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PAOK FC. Bacary Pincon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bacary Pincon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giannis Kadoglou got free with Hubert Donnet in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
