Spectators: 7350 (Terracing: 5611, Seating: 1719, VIP seats: 20) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Arbo Sachs started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute Arbo Sachs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafinha Penha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rafinha Penha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Halil Winskowsky's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. In the 8th minute of the match Hjalmar Blumentritt shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafinha Penha showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Aílton Abreu fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leões do Sul 53's protests and gave Aílton Abreu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 15th minute, Aílton Abreu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Halil Winskowsky's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rafinha Penha was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alberto Sena during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 18th match minute, Leões do Sul 53 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Sena to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Paulo Travassos took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Johann Scheuerer to make any attempt to save it. Hjalmar Blumentritt hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute, Tarcisio Baptista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rafinha Penha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Oliver Dorn in the 43rd minute of the match. Rafinha Penha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arbo Sachs in the 47th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulo Travassos to strike the kick off in the second half. Leões do Sul 53's Rafinha Penha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Leões do Sul 53 from getting a goal against them. Paulo Travassos charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paulo Travassos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The crowd rose to their feet as Rot-Weiss-Essen's Arbo Sachs slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rafinha Penha. That made the score 1-1 after 56 minutes of play. After 60 played minutes, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Hjalmar Blumentritt shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rafinha Penha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rot-Weiss-Essen reached it. Tarcisio Baptista charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tarcisio Baptista the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Leões do Sul 53 getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Tarcisio Baptista hit a great ball. Rafinha Penha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arbo Sachs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rafinha Penha was out of position in the 65 minute of play, and Halil Winskowsky capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Halil Winskowsky really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. After 68 minutes, Lars Oliver Dorn made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. Leões do Sul 53's Rafinha Penha tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Leões do Sul 53 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aílton Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafinha Penha was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Arbo Sachs showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 78 minute of play. Halil Winskowsky could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Rafinha Penha made a huge save. Arbo Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafinha Penha having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 93 minutes, Rafinha Penha successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Hjalmar Blumentritt got a throw-in 94 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Lars Oliver Dorn. The Rot-Weiss-Essen supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rot-Weiss-Essen would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
