Spectators: 7669 (Terracing: 5752, Seating: 1764, VIP seats: 153) Fortinducto's Amadeo Baladi started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Arturo Santikurtz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Club Universidad Nacional defense, Arnoldo Pirro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernando Abarca. The Club Universidad Nacional fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernando Abarca should have stopped the shot. 13 minutes into the match, Club Universidad Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeo Baladi came free, but Fernando Abarca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Diego Sanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 17 minutes of play, Club Universidad Nacional's Diego Sanson made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ivan Nastasio was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Diego Sanson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Universidad Nacional's supporters rose to their feet, but Diego Sanson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Nastasio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 30th minute Oscar Lalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Nastasio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Club Universidad Nacional getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Pascual Luzaide hit a great ball. Israel Salvadore, 40 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Ivan Nastasio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2.
