When Fernan Maurino fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alejandra's protests and gave Fernan Maurino a yellow card for diving instead. Rigoberto Montez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Norberto Juarez in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Teofilo Hormazabal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the U. de Tarapacá defense, Natalio Angel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eusebio Portillo. The U. de Tarapacá fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eusebio Portillo should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, U. de Tarapacá's Eusebio Portillo got control of the ball when Natalio Angel tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 29th minute, Natalio Angel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eusebio Portillo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alejandra's goalkeeper Rigoberto Montez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fernan Maurino was shown his second yellow card after 38 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Pedro Tomás Berau took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rigoberto Montez. Rigoberto Montez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Natalio Angel made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Alfredo Saralegui kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rigoberto Montez. That made the score 2-2 in the 54 minute of play. Xalvador Quijada took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rigoberto Montez. Alejandra's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Diego Lartaun hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 61st minute, Bartolomé Romero made a precise shot to the right of Rigoberto Montez. Alejandra's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. Alejandra's Rigoberto Montez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Tomás Berau in the 67th minute of play. Eusebio Portillo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Natalio Angel went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. In the 75th minute, U. de Tarapacá's Pedro Tomás Berau dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-4. After 95 minutes, Norberto Juarez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U. de Tarapacá and the Alejandra players grew even worse after the yellow card. The U. de Tarapacá players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
