Seating: 1767, VIP seats: 153) Hok's Martin Dahlin started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute Géza Bozsik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uno Fanström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, Hok's goal looked a bit too open when Géza Bozsik came free, but Uno Fanström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 8 minutes into the game, Roland Boda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gyál United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hok the free kick. In the 8th minute, one of Gyál United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Gyál United. Gyál United:s Mihály Földesi showed great skill when he stopped Olof Mellberg:s penalty. 9 minutes into the match, Olof Mellberg notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Gyál United's Mihály Földesi. Mihály Földesi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Gyál United getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Csaba Lisztes hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Hok defense, Csaba Kossuth kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Uno Fanström. The Hok fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Uno Fanström should have stopped the shot. Gyál United's Mihály Földesi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Per Rosén in the 29th minute of play. Uno Fanström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Géza Bozsik, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Uno Fanström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from István Juhász in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Miklós Bodnár had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Uno Fanström. Hok's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Miklós Bodnár was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. 37 minutes into the game, Csaba Kossuth cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Uno Fanström was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 42 minutes of play, Gyál United's István Juhász made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Uno Fanström was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Gyál United were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and István Juhász made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martin Dahlin in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mihály Földesi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Gyál United getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Zoltán Ebedli hit a great ball. During the 54th minute of the match Roland Boda completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Roland Boda a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 55 played minutes, Hok's Olof Mellberg shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mihály Földesi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hok reached it. Uno Fanström was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Miklós Bodnár showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 57 minute of play. Uno Fanström was a little too slow when Géza Bozsik got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 60th minute. The score was now 1-6. Géza Bozsik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 64th minute, Gyál United's Miklós Bodnár ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Uno Fanström. Uno Fanström yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-7. Uno Fanström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Csaba Kossuth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Gyál United's Géza Bozsik got a free kick in the 77th minute. Géza Bozsik took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Uno Fanström. Uno Fanström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-8. Uno Fanström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miklós Bodnár in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute, Jonas Jakobsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Géza Bozsik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the game, Csaba Kossuth was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The crowd rose to their feet as Gyál United's Csaba Kossuth slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Uno Fanström. That made the score 1-9 after 92 minutes of play.
