VAMO ARRIBA were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after Nova Venécia-ES's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Saul Rolado took the corner. The corner ended in Saul Rolado almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Nova Venécia-ES's Clemente Cardozo did a great save. When Diego Botelho fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nova Venécia-ES's protests and gave Diego Botelho a yellow card for diving instead. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Nova Venécia-ES would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
