If Gustavo Bautista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 2nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when Estudiantes de América was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Ospetsu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Estudiantes de América's zone, Zé Valle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hipolito Matro came out of the goal and Zé Valle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hipolito Matro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Téo Trancoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. With a little luck, Estudiantes de América's Hipolito Matro got control of the ball when Luís Fábio Diniz tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Téo Trancoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Téo Trancoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hipolito Matro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Téo Trancoso in the 17th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute of the match Estudiantes de América got a corner. Palmeiras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ezequiel Luke ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Ezequiel Luke got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Váldson de Queirós quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Estudiantes de América's defense didn't have a chance, in the 25th minute, when Téo Trancoso scored to the left of an out of position Hipolito Matro, making the score, 1-0. If Gustavo Bautista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Matias Ler got a free kick in the 35th minute. 37 minutes into the game, Estudiantes de América's Ezequiel Luke nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Váldson de Queirós made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. A collision led to Estudiantes de América getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Matias Ler hit a great ball. With his leg Hipolito Matro managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Palmeiras's Luís Fábio Diniz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Ezequiel Luke came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Estudiantes de América fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ezequiel Luke couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ezequiel Luke to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Elias Argoitz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Estudiantes de América's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elias Argoitz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodriguinho Carneiro hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Ezequiel Luke struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Váldson de Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estudiantes de América. Geovanni Ramalho kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Estudiantes de América's Lino Ekialde was substituted for Ildefonso Balesio. After 62 played minutes Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Geovanni Ramalho. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Téo Trancoso got a free kick in the 64th minute. 73 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goalkeeper Váldson de Queirós had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustavo Bautista. Luís Fábio Diniz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hipolito Matro having to interfere. Estudiantes de América made a substitution. Filiberto Ourente replaced Denis Mon. In the 79th minute, Luís Fábio Diniz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palmeiras fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Argoitz in the 83rd minute of play forced Palmeiras's goalkeeper Váldson de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Elvio Paublo got a free kick in the 85th minute. Ezequiel Luke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Váldson de Queirós having to interfere. Palmeiras's Váldson de Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. For all the effort they put into the match, the Estudiantes de América players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Palmeiras.
