Eleazar Coello started the match with the kick off. Humberto Bixintxo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ximen Canal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Eleazar Coello's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mauro Cordearo was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. In the 18th minute of the match Universitario de deportes got a corner. SOUTH THUNDER's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Brion Bermejo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mauro Cordearo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ximen Canal in the 23rd minute of play. Mauro Cordearo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eleazar Coello, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Feijo Dobale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remigio Ihintza in the 30th minute of play. After recieving a nice pass, Universitario de deportes's Brion Bermejo tried to score from far away in the 34th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 36th minute, Federico Guijarro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 39 played minutes Universitario de deportes got a freekick which was hit by Clemente Marcilla. Humberto Bixintxo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Universitario de deportes were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Remigio Ihintza was the one to do the kick off. Eleazar Coello who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Mauro Cordearo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 55th minute, Santiago Sanson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mauro Cordearo made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Ximen Canal sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, SOUTH THUNDER's Mauro Cordearo got control of the ball when Ximen Canal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Feijo Dobale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remigio Ihintza in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute Ramon Kemen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Feijo Dobale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute Eleazar Coello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Cordearo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th match minute, SOUTH THUNDER was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Germán Pezzella to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute Universitario de deportes were awarded a corner. Brion Bermejo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Universitario de deportes's Jeremias Herrero to fire away a dangerous shot which Mauro Cordearo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Mauro Cordearo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eleazar Coello's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. After 87 minutes, Federico Guijarro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Universitario de deportes and the SOUTH THUNDER players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Universitario de deportes getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Federico Guijarro hit a great ball. Universitario de deportes's Feijo Dobale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Bixintxo in the 96th minute of play. In the 98th minute of the match SOUTH THUNDER got a corner. Universitario de deportes's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ramon Kemen ran over to the corner to take the kick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Universitario de deportes eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
