The supporters of Albertus FC booed when Hertha 1969 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrik Gorges didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan Hendrik Weken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Burkhard Männer, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Albertus FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hertha 1969 the free kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joeri Buys got free with Erich Pietta in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
