An unexpectedly hard shot by Rareș Tomulescu in the 3rd minute of play forced -BZF- Valea Buzăului's goalkeeper Damian Macovei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Francisc Firoiu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iulian Cozaru in the 9th minute. After 9 played minutes The Owls got a freekick which was hit by Sever Zăreanu. 10 minutes into the match, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Cezar Berevoescu broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Francisc Firoiu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iulian Cozaru in the 11th minute. Alexandru Coporan kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 14 minutes, Francisc Firoiu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Sever Zăreanu's late challenge caught a -BZF- Valea Buzăului's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sever Zăreanu helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to The Owls getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Sever Zăreanu hit a great ball. Iulian Cozaru kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Cezar Berevoescu hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Liviu Huștea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rareș Tomulescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Damian Macovei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rareș Tomulescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Damian Macovei read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Pipo Inzaghi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisc Firoiu having to interfere. After a rather tough play, The Owls's Eduard Bitănescu got a free kick in the 29th minute. If Sever Zăreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in The Owls's zone, Pipo Inzaghi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisc Firoiu came out of the goal and Pipo Inzaghi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andriy Shevcenko to make the kick off. Francisc Firoiu came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Andriy Shevcenko. But to his dismay, Andriy Shevcenko quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Francisc Firoiu came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Iulian Cozaru. But to his dismay, Iulian Cozaru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. 64 minutes into the game, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Pipo Inzaghi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Francisc Firoiu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Rareș Tomulescu in the 69thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Damian Macovei, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of The Owls booed when -BZF- Valea Buzăului was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iulian Cozaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. 71 minutes into the game, Victor Rizea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Owls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave -BZF- Valea Buzăului the free kick. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Andriy Shevcenko got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in The Owls's zone, Iulian Cozaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisc Firoiu came out of the goal and Iulian Cozaru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 76th match minute, -BZF- Valea Buzăului was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pipo Inzaghi to maneuver through the defense. After 77 played minutes The Owls got a freekick which was hit by Liviu Huștea. Rareș Tomulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. In the 82nd minute, George Muntian hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rareș Tomulescus short, quick shot in the 90thth minute got Damian Macovei to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 91st minute Andriy Shevcenko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisc Firoiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of The Owls booed when -BZF- Valea Buzăului was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Muntian didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sever Zăreanu took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 95th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Damian Macovei. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
