Edgard de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrick Robins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 8th minute, Steve Oliver got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Guido Pagomari came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Mayo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guido Pagomari couldn't finish the play. In the 12th minute Guido Pagomari shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Patrick Robins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florian Patrylo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guido Pagomari in the 34th minute of play forced Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edgard de Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Patrick Robins went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 43rd minute Alex Burton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulão Medeiros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 46th match minute, Mayo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo Miliano to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Mayo were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Edgard de Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steve Oliver, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Edgard de Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steve Oliver in the 54th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Montesclarense E.C.'s Jorge Sá got a free kick in the 66th minute. Mayo's Nathanial Pitts was substituted for Glyn Smith. Montesclarense E.C.'s Roberto Melo was substituted for Jorge Sá. The supporters of Mayo booed when Montesclarense E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th match minute, Montesclarense E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho Barral to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alex Burton in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edgard de Almeida saved Montesclarense E.C. from getting behind. Alexander Bird made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Barral in the 73rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Schmidt in the 80th minute of play forced Mayo's goalkeeper Alexander Bird to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Burton in the 83rd minute of play forced Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Montesclarense E.C. getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Roberto Melo hit a great ball. The long shot by Samuel Farmer in the 85th minute really tested Edgard de Almeida's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 86 minutes into the game, when Mazinho Barral put in a rough tackle. After 86 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Montesclarense E.C.! Montesclarense E.C.:s Edgard de Almeida showed great skill when he stopped Samuel Farmer:s penalty. 91 minutes into the match, Montesclarense E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Alex Burton came free, but Edgard de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Montesclarense E.C. booed when Mayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steve Oliver didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mayo's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
