Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Martín Palermo ran back to his position shaking his head. Martín Palermo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Pimenta having to interfere. Einar Holmberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dedê Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 10 minutes, Cléber Mandrak mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vasqueiro FC and the Ascacibar-Pérez players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 10th minute, Cléber Mandrak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vasqueiro FC's Juvenal Pimenta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casimiro Santana in the 12th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Martín Palermo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Vasqueiro FC's Juvenal Pimenta. Juvenal Pimenta was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Octavio Chale took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Juvenal Pimenta. Juvenal Pimenta dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Cléber Mandrak was shown his second yellow card after 26 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Ascacibar-Pérez booed when Vasqueiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cléber Mandrak didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martín Palermo in the 35th minute of play forced Vasqueiro FC's goalkeeper Juvenal Pimenta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute Martín Palermo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juvenal Pimenta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute, Martín Palermo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juvenal Pimenta was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Juvenal Pimenta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelino Txurio in the 44th minute of play. After the first half Ascacibar-Pérez were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dedê Lara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Marcelino Txurio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 63 minutes in the game Leonardo Pontes did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Dedê Lara. Juvenal Pimenta didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 65th minute, which inside left pole to 0-5. With a little luck, Vasqueiro FC's Juvenal Pimenta got control of the ball when Marcelino Txurio tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Erubiel Dalmu fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ascacibar-Pérez's protests and gave Erubiel Dalmu a yellow card for diving instead. Erubiel Dalmu kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 86 minutes in the game, Marcelino Txurio fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Juvenal Pimenta having to interfere. Juvenal Pimenta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martín Palermo in the 92nd minute of play. Leonardo Pontes's late challenge caught a Ascacibar-Pérez's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonardo Pontes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Vasqueiro FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Leonardo Pontes hit a great ball. Ascacibar-Pérez's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
