To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Prosper Vey in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. After a rather tough play, Paris's Lamine Beau got a free kick in the 46th minute. If Cemal Bekdil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Jean-Christophe Hannequin kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. When Cihan Aynacıoğlu came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Samsunspor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cihan Aynacıoğlu couldn't finish the play. Mike Allègre's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yavuzalp Sağanalp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play.
