Abuba Akotonon FC's J.J Okocha was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Henning Berglund in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Henning Berglund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cecilio Tristan in the 14th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Rodney Huston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abuba Akotonon FC's Cecilio Tristan got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Cecilio Tristan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 30 minutes into the game, Abuba Akotonon FC's Cecilio Tristan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
