The supporters of Kjønstad BF booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Turner didn't get a good kick on the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Gökhan Zane in the 35th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Santos FC's Terence Nicholas. The audience thought a goal was coming when Halvard Knutsen got free with Aaron Smallwood in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lanny Gilmore in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fred Bonk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 46 minutes into the match, Kjønstad BF's goal looked a bit too open when Lanny Gilmore came free, but Fred Bonk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lanny Gilmore made a kick off. In the 54th minute of the match, Lanny Gilmore tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Fred Bonk saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 56 minutes into the game, Lanny Gilmore was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Santos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kjønstad BF the free kick. Lanny Gilmore kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kjell Alsvik in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aaron Smallwood saved Santos FC from getting behind. Aaron Smallwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kjell Alsvik in the 80th minute of the match. Fred Bonk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lanny Gilmore, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the game, Kjønstad BF's Kjell Alsvik nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aaron Smallwood made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Santos FC's Terence Nicholas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Gökhan Zane, made in the 88th minute of the game. When Warren Ruiz fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santos FC's protests and gave Warren Ruiz a yellow card for diving instead. Santos FC's Terence Nicholas managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gökhan Zane in the 94 minute of the game. Kjønstad BF's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
