Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremias Salles in the 14th minute of play. In the 20thth minute of the game Nicolás De la Cruz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Marquês de Herval fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Dida Taffarel came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Lindner F.C's Dónald Trump. But to his dismay, Dónald Trump quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Nicolás De la Cruzs short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Dida Taffarel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Dónald Trump fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Taffarel having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, German Cano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marquês de Herval's supporters rose to their feet, but German Cano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilson de Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when Lindner F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolás De la Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilson de Almeida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The Marquês de Herval fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Nicolás De la Cruz struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Dida Taffarel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lindner F.C. With a little luck, Lindner F.C's Nilson de Almeida got control of the ball when Nestor Paraibano tried to sneak it across the goal line.
