The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, neXt Gaming's Cirilo Martxel got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Nueva Esparta FC's Elpidio Briñas got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 5 minutes into the game, one of neXt Gaming:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Bernabe Naldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute, Quin Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nueva Esparta FC's Benicio Tapia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Nueva Esparta FC from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Benicio Tapia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Benicio Tapia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernabe Naldo in the 26th minute of play. After 28 played minutes neXt Gaming got a freekick which was hit by Cirilo Martxel. In the 30th minute, one of neXt Gaming:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for neXt Gaming. Paulino Urki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Armiñan in the 38th minute of play. Paulino Urki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elpidio Briñas, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Severino Armiñan to make the kick off. When Cirilo Martxel was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 79 minutes had been played. Nueva Esparta FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elpidio Briñas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
