An unexpectedly hard shot by Blaine Tyler in the 14th minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Franklin Duran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Julio Picado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Limon FC's Franklin Duran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blaine Tyler in the 19th minute of play. Neil Pierre struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Franklin Duran didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Malakas FC. 25 minutes into the game, Bryan Chamberlain cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Landon Puckett was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Blaine Tyler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Malakas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Blaine Tyler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Franklin Duran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Franklin Duran showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Neil Pierre, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 30th minute Dudley Davila suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. Macho Ledezma got his second yellow card in the match during the 30th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Malakas FC booed when Limon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bryan Chamberlain didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Picado who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Landon Puckett when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 45 minutes into the match, Limon FC's goal looked a bit too open when Blaine Tyler came free, but Franklin Duran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Oldemar Orozco fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Limon FC's protests and gave Oldemar Orozco a yellow card for diving instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bryan Chamberlain made a kick off. After 61 played minutes Limon FC got a freekick which was hit by Bryan Chamberlain. After a defensive mix-up in Malakas FC's zone, Julio Picado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Landon Puckett came out of the goal and Julio Picado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 65 minutes, Julio Picado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Limon FC and the Malakas FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 65th minute, Julio Picado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpected shot in the 66th minute by Blaine Tyler got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Julio Picado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
