The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Flavio Heriberto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Archie Stonebridge in the 4th minute of the match. 6 minutes into the match, Concha y pitos's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Stayton came free, but Flavio Heriberto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Southampton getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Ash Toovey hit a great ball. Martin Wilson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eliseo Osmundo in the 22nd minute. Martin Wilson made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Eliseo Osmundo sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Archie Stonebridge in the 29th minute of play forced Concha y pitos's goalkeeper Flavio Heriberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Jack Stayton came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Southampton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jack Stayton couldn't finish the play. In the 33rd match minute, Concha y pitos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anacleto Estevez to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of Concha y pitos:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Southampton:s goal. After having played for 42 minutes, Eliseo Osmundo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Concha y pitos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Osmundo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Martin Wilson went to the wrong direction when Horacio Maidana was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Archie Stonebridge was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Archie Stonebridge recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Flavio Heriberto. Archie Stonebridge showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. In the 56th match minute, Concha y pitos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anacleto Estevez to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Eliseo Osmundo sped through Southampton's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Martin Wilson. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eliseo Osmundo in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martin Wilson saved Southampton from getting behind. Eliseo Osmundo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Southampton's Martin Wilson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesar Etxahun in the 76th minute of play. Flavio Heriberto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Archie Stonebridge's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. In the 78th minute of the match, Jeffrey Roberts tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Flavio Heriberto saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 80th minute, Jeffrey Roberts left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Southampton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. In the 82nd minute, Southampton's Jack Stayton ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Flavio Heriberto. Flavio Heriberto yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. The supporters of Southampton booed when Concha y pitos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Macias didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Ash Toovey from long distance, 86 minutes into the match, got Flavio Heriberto's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Cesar Etxahun managed to get in a good position for a shot. Concha y pitos's supporters rose to their feet, but Cesar Etxahun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Martin Wilson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Concha y pitos booed when Southampton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jools Denham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eustaquio Matai fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Wilson having to interfere. Jack Stayton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Heriberto having to interfere. When the final whistle went the supporters of Southampton were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Concha y pitos side.
