Rot-Weiss-Essen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Timoteo Columbo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 5th minute, Hakem Al Khames hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. August Hoffmanns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timoteo Columbo in the 8th minute of play. Timoteo Columbo might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over August Hoffmanns. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Timoteo Columbo ran back to his position shaking his head. August Hoffmanns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timoteo Columbo in the 10th minute of play. August Hoffmanns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timoteo Columbo, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 14th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mesut Özil to maneuver through the defense. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timoteo Columbo in the 15th minute of play. In the 17thth minute of the game Timoteo Columbo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. August Hoffmanns didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Timoteo Columbo went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 21 minutes into the match, Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that August Hoffmanns narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Timoteo Columbo in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck August Hoffmanns prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Academia 1903's Primo Speranza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Academia 1903 from getting a goal against them. 31 minutes into the game, Maximilian Henning was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rot-Weiss-Essen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Academia 1903 the free kick. In the 32nd match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximilian Henning to maneuver through the defense. If Timoteo Columbo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 37 minutes, Hakem Al Khames mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rot-Weiss-Essen and the Academia 1903 players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hakem Al Khames kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Rot-Weiss-Essen's zone, Timoteo Columbo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. August Hoffmanns came out of the goal and Timoteo Columbo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timoteo Columbo in the 42nd minute of play. If Timoteo Columbo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Timoteo Columbo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without August Hoffmanns having to interfere. 46 minutes into the game, Timoteo Columbo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. August Hoffmanns was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Rot-Weiss-Essen players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Academia 1903 were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Anestis Kotsopoulos made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Timoteo Columbo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving August Hoffmanns. That made the score 0-4 in the 53 minute of play. Academia 1903's Gérard Magyar was substituted for Harald Ek. In the 62nd minute, Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. Primo Speranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximilian Henning in the 65th minute of play. 68 minutes into the game, Timoteo Columbo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of August Hoffmanns. Timoteo Columbo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-7. When Rot-Weiss-Essen's Maximilian Henning in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Academia 1903's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Timoteo Columbo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but August Hoffmanns was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. When Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalie prevented a goal. Timoteo Columbo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. August Hoffmanns came out and tried to block the shot, but Timoteo Columbo slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 76th minute. Timoteo Columbo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without August Hoffmanns having to make a save. 79 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Timoteo Columbo. The Academia 1903 fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-9 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. August Hoffmanns was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Timoteo Columbo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-10 in the 88 minute of play. In the 94th minute, Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-11. Academia 1903 played a much better game than Rot-Weiss-Essen and deserved their victory. The Rot-Weiss-Essen players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
