In the 16th minute Ian Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klaus-Dieter Heisters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Trio's Klaus-Dieter Heisters proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save FC Trio from getting a goal against them. Ian Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Klaus-Dieter Heisters having to interfere. Ian Garcia struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Klaus-Dieter Heisters didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Katchau. If Mark Rohde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mark Rohde in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fernandinho Mangueira saved Katchau from getting behind. Fernandinho Mangueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uwe Degener in the 35th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Katchau's Klaus-Dieter Heisters threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ian Garcia, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 39 played minutes FC Trio got a freekick which was hit by Curt Schuber. A collision led to FC Trio getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Curt Schuber hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Katchau's Fernandinho Mangueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uwe Degener in the 81st minute of play. Mark Rohde's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 82ndth minute, Fernandinho Mangueira skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Fernandinho Mangueira was out of position in the 83 minute of play, and Uwe Degener capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Uwe Degener really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1.
