In the 4thth minute of the game Zachery Davison who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kentucky Mustangs's Tyrone McCracken was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lonnie Reeves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute, Sergio Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tyrone McCracken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zachery Davison, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 15th minute, Sergio Correa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 18th minute of the match, Wade Olson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gregorio Dubois saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 20 played minutes Illinois Bluewaters got a freekick which was hit by Raymond Curran. Illinois Bluewaters's Zachery Davison got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 25 minutes, Flint Landrum mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kentucky Mustangs and the Illinois Bluewaters players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Illinois Bluewaters booed when Kentucky Mustangs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flint Landrum didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Illinois Bluewaters's Zachery Davison in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After a defensive mix-up in Kentucky Mustangs's zone, Lonnie Reeves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tyrone McCracken came out of the goal and Lonnie Reeves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lonnie Reeves struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Tyrone McCracken didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Illinois Bluewaters. In the 44th minute, Hector Welch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gregorio Dubois was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zachery Davison was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute, Kentucky Mustangs's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Lonnie Reeves fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Zachery Davison in the 60thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tyrone McCracken, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Zachery Davison came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Illinois Bluewaters fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zachery Davison couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zachery Davison in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tyrone McCracken prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 70 played minutes Illinois Bluewaters got a freekick which was hit by Dalton Ponce. In the 81st minute, Hector Welch made a precise shot to the right of Gregorio Dubois. Illinois Bluewaters's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After having played for 87 minutes, Dalton Ponce managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Illinois Bluewaters's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dalton Ponce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute, Hector Welch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gregorio Dubois was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. The Kentucky Mustangs support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
