The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fabinho Prestes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pranas Užkuraitis, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Jipa RO's Norbert Konopka sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Serginho Botelho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 9th minute of the match Jipa RO got a corner. FC St. Pauli's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ronaldinho Fenomeno ran over to the corner to take the kick. 13 minutes into the match, FC St. Pauli's goal looked a bit too open when Norbert Konopka came free, but Serginho Botelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 14 minutes, Lucas Zagalo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC St. Pauli and the Jipa RO players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 24 minutes of play, FC St. Pauli's Pranas Užkuraitis made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fabinho Prestes was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Ceresso in the 35th minute of play forced Jipa RO's goalkeeper Fabinho Prestes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the match, FC St. Pauli's goal looked a bit too open when Norbert Konopka came free, but Serginho Botelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geovanni Cerezo hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Wen Ke's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabinho Prestes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. After 47 played minutes FC St. Pauli got a freekick which was hit by Geovanni Cerezo. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Norbert Konopka was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Jipa RO booed when FC St. Pauli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovanni Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC St. Pauli's Serginho Botelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norbert Konopka in the 55th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Norbert Konopka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Serginho Botelho was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 63 played minutes Jipa RO got a freekick which was hit by Li Chang De. Jipa RO's Bruno Henrique was substituted for Ronaldinho Fenomeno. The supporters of FC St. Pauli booed when Jipa RO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Li Chang De didn't get a good kick on the ball. Serginho Botelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norbert Konopka in the 67th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Norbert Konopka in the 76th minute of play forced FC St. Pauli's goalkeeper Serginho Botelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC St. Pauli's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bruno Henrique was slow to take the kick. During this time Jipa RO's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Li Chang De managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Fabinho Prestes was out of position in the 86 minute of play, and Pranas Užkuraitis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Pranas Užkuraitis really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. FC St. Pauli's Serginho Botelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Terra in the 92nd minute of play. The Jipa RO manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing FC St. Pauli to win.
