An unexpectedly hard shot by Wout Weghorst in the 36th minute of play forced KOCAELİSPOR's goalkeeper Şemsettin Tuyuğ to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 37 played minutes KOCAELİSPOR got a freekick which was hit by Fiori Britto. Ömer Demirci might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sacit Budak. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ömer Demirci ran back to his position shaking his head. 42 minutes into the game, Wout Weghorst cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Şemsettin Tuyuğ was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ömer Demirci blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sacit Budak having to make a save. Sacit Budak made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Ömer Demirci sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Ömer Demirci struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Sacit Budak didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KOCAELİSPOR. In the 58th minute, Ömer Demirci ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sacit Budak was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Sacit Budak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ömer Demirci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wout Weghorst could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Şemsettin Tuyuğ made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Ömer Demirci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sacit Budak was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Ömer Demirci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sacit Budak having to interfere.
