After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredo Rossi to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Ribeiro in the 85th minute of play forced Racing Club【LBF】's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredo Rossi got free with Marcelo Barovero in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew the final whistle, GuateFortín could leave the field as winners, despite Racing Club【LBF】 having more of the ball for most of the match.
