When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Augusto Brasil made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Augusto Brasil in the 51st minute of play forced S.E.R. Fausto Ferraz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's zone, Raí Rodrigues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fausto Ferraz came out of the goal and Raí Rodrigues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ediberto Pontes might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fausto Ferraz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ediberto Pontes ran back to his position shaking his head. Leopoldo Sanches took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Miguel Baptista. Miguel Baptista dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5.
