In the 8th minute Silas Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edu Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edson Cordeiro hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute, Silas Melo made a precise shot to the right of Edu Mendonça. Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Edu Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria Leão in the 16th minute of play. Henrique Alvarenga scored 0-2 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edu Mendonça, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 22 minutes into the match, Henrique Alvarenga notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Edu Mendonça. Edu Mendonça was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Edu Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silas Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute Henrique Alvarenga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edu Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edu Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vágner Urbano, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 36th minute, Silas Melo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Capixaba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Edu Mendonça didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silas Melo went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. After the first half Atlético Capixaba were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Maria Leão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Atlético Capixaba's Edu Mendonça threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Henrique Alvarenga, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Edu Mendonça didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 59th minute, which inside left pole to 0-7. The crowd rose to their feet as Atlético Capixaba's José Maria Leão slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Edu Mendonça. That made the score 0-8 after 64 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henrique Alvarenga in the 73rd minute of play forced Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's goalkeeper Edu Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Maria Leão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Edu Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edu Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aílton Branco in the 83rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silas Melo got free with Edu Mendonça in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wanderson Rossi in the 87th minute of play forced Atlético Capixaba's goalkeeper Telmo Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute, Atlético Capixaba's Henrique Alvarenga dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-10. Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's defense didn't have a chance, in the 97th minute, when Henrique Alvarenga scored to the left of an out of position Edu Mendonça, making the score, 0-11.
