In the 19th minute of the match Palestra do Interior got a corner. São José E. C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Percival Cruz ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Palestra do Interior's Percival Cruz to fire away a dangerous shot which Luiz Paulo Vaz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Luiz Paulo Vaz made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Romário Barbosa sent off a good shot on target. Palestra do Interior's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Percival Cruz in the 21st minute. The corner led Palestra do Interior's Percival Cruz to fire away a dangerous shot which Luiz Paulo Vaz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Paulo Godoi in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Luiz Paulo Vaz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Franciszek Kiewra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luiz Paulo Vaz. That made the score 1-0 after 29 minutes of play. In the 35th minute, Paulo Godoi made a precise shot to the right of Luiz Paulo Vaz. São José E. C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After 41 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Percival Cruz. 42 minutes in the game Eugênio Alagoano did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Romário Barbosa. Allan Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 胡思朋, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 47th minute of the match Claudinei Macedo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Allan Varela skillfully saved the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Franciszek Kiewra was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernani Velasco to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the match, São José E. C.'s Luís Gustavo Paraíba broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's Eugênio Alagoano got a free kick in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the match, Franciszek Kiewra had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Allan Varela. Palestra do Interior's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Franciszek Kiewra was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romário Barbosa in the 64th minute of play forced São José E. C.'s goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Vaz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. São José E. C.'s Luiz Paulo Vaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romário Barbosa in the 69th minute of play. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Ulises Dominguez replaced 吴洲坚. Palestra do Interior's Moisés Matorin was substituted for Eugênio Alagoano. After taking down the ball on Palestra do Interior's corner Percival Cruz fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Luiz Paulo Vaz quite easily take care of the ball. 81 minutes into the match, São José E. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Lago came free, but Luiz Paulo Vaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 83rd minute Romário Barbosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Paulo Vaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vitório Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Paulo Vaz having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, São José E. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Romário Barbosa came free, but Luiz Paulo Vaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Paulo Vaz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório Lago in the 89th minute of play. Luiz Paulo Vaz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitório Lago in the 95th minute of the match. Palestra do Interior walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
