PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Vito Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilson Duarte in the 13th minute of play. Marcelo Gröhe came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Agnaldo Lopes. But to his dismay, Agnaldo Lopes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The supporters of PEÇONHENTO FC MG booed when Independente FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agnaldo Lopes got free with Marcelo Gröhe in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Agnaldo Lopes came free and shot a quick shot against goal 32 minutes in the game, fortunately Marcelo Gröhe had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Vito Furlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Duarte in the 39th minute of play. Vito Furlan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilson Duarte in the 41st minute of the match. In the 41st match minute, PEÇONHENTO FC MG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony de Lima to maneuver through the defense.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernando Lucas to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Tony de Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Lucas in the 52nd minute of play forced PEÇONHENTO FC MG's goalkeeper Vito Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute, Fernando Lucas fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 61st minute, Agnaldo Lopes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Independente FC's Marcelo Gröhe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agnaldo Lopes in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th minute, Tony de Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nilson Duarte blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vito Furlan having to make a save. PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Vito Furlan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save PEÇONHENTO FC MG from getting a goal against them. Vito Furlan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Gustavo Brasil in the 75th minute. Raí Prestess short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Vito Furlan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Álvaro Matos made in the 88th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Raí Prestes. Independente FC's Marcelo Gröhe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agnaldo Lopes in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilson Duarte in the 92nd minute of play forced PEÇONHENTO FC MG's goalkeeper Vito Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nilson Duarte took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vito Furlan. Vito Furlan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. The PEÇONHENTO FC MG fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Independente FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
