Montevideo's defense didn't have a chance, in the 7th minute, when Luizão Bocanegra scored to the left of an out of position Andreas Lips, making the score, 1-0. The supporters of Montevideo booed when A.A. Francana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizão Bocanegra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Cassia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Roberto Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Jean de Barros's late challenge caught a Montevideo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jean de Barros helped the player get up and apologised. Wilson Cassia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gonçalo Mello in the 15th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Mello in the 20th minute of play forced A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Wilson Cassia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto Martins came free, but Wilson Cassia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The wind increased when Luizão Bocanegra made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Zé Roberto Martins fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 55 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto Martins came free, but Wilson Cassia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 56th minute of the match Montevideo got a corner. A.A. Francana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Diogo Vale ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience was convinced that Zé Roberto Martins's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilson Cassia was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Wilson Cassia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zé Roberto Martins's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Francana's corner Ruy Fantini fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Andreas Lips quite easily take care of the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Luizão Bocanegra came free, but Andreas Lips reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The nice shot from Zé Roberto Martins in the 78thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Wilson Cassia had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Montevideo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Diogo Vale in the 80th minute. Diogo Vale made a great header on Montevideo's corner, it was just that A.A. Francana's Wilson Cassia managed to reach the ball for a save.
