Luiz Gustavo Brasil was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 29th minute. Independente FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 3-2 became the score in the 31st minute when Adriano Tande elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Di Yuan Liang hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Nilson Duarte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Gilson Arósio made a huge save. Gilson Arósio was out of position in the 42 minute of play, and Nilson Duarte capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nilson Duarte really showed his touch with that goal: 4-2. In the 46th minute of the match Yağız Davutoğlu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcelo Gröhe showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-2 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fernando Lucas to strike the kick off in the second half. With 53 minutes on the clock, Hermínio Moraes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pombal 2003 F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pombal 2003 F.C.'s Gilson Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilson Duarte in the 72nd minute of play. Gilson Arósio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilson Duarte in the 79th minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Di Yuan Liang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Tande in the 85th minute of play forced Pombal 2003 F.C.'s goalkeeper Gilson Arósio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Edgard Bertassi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute, Nilson Duarte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gilson Arósio was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-2. Adriano Tande struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Gilson Arósio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independente FC. Gilson Arósio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Gustavo Brasil in the 96th minute of play. In the 98th minute Fernando Lucas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilson Arósio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
