When Niculae Ungureanu came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Niculae Ungureanu couldn't finish the play. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 16th minute of play. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Chen Ao Fan was slow to take the kick. During this time Skövde AIK's players had a chance to rest. Knut Rudberg made a great header on Skövde AIK's corner, it was just that SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin managed to reach the ball for a save. The SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Skövde AIK were winning 1-2.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling David Elodio in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Karl-Erik Norström prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Kurt Hamrin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 60th match minute, Skövde AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Krister Uggstedt to maneuver through the defense. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s David Elodio got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Nemanja Vidić got a free kick in the 62nd minute. A hard shot by Georg Norström from long distance, 63 minutes into the match, got Andriy Lunin's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 71st minute, Niculae Ungureanu made a precise shot to the right of Karl-Erik Norström. Skövde AIK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. In the 84th minute David Elodio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Erik Norström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karl-Erik Norström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niculae Ungureanu in the 93rd minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kurt Hamrin. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
