When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Jarūnas Kuliešius put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mikolaj Jerzyk. Deividas Aukštakis charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Kris Chamberlain fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikolaj Jerzyk having to interfere. Jarūnas Kuliešius could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Mikolaj Jerzyk made a huge save. In the 28th minute Jarūnas Kuliešius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mikolaj Jerzyk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarūnas Kuliešius in the 29th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thomas Vollmar to make the kick off. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Adam Pacholewski hit a great ball. After 63 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Olgierd Wojtowicz. Jarūnas Kuliešius took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 64th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mikolaj Jerzyk. Newcastle United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kris Chamberlain in the 65th minute of the match. In the 66th minute, Adam Pacholewski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jarūnas Kuliešius in the 68th minute of play. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Edvīns van der Sar as he didn't even see the shot coming. 81 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goal looked a bit too open when Jarūnas Kuliešius came free, but Mikolaj Jerzyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 84 minutes into the match, Adam Pacholewski notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of FC Alytus United's Edvīns van der Sar. Edvīns van der Sar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Daavid Šembera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikolaj Jerzyk having to interfere. If Pankracy Malicki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Newcastle United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
