The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 21 played minutes Grütly got a freekick which was hit by Cecilio Mirande. Grütly's Epifanio Boniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Oinatz in the 22nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Stellenbosch's zone, Tomas Oliviero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baldomero Burutzagi came out of the goal and Tomas Oliviero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Alberto Oinatz made the kick off in the second half. Baldomero Burutzagi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Oliviero, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Baldomero Burutzagi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elpidio Gabrio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th match minute, Stellenbosch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Astor Chuse to maneuver through the defense. Tomas Oliviero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baldomero Burutzagi having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fidel Guilabertus during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Stellenbosch getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Fidel Guilabertus hit a great ball. Stellenbosch's Baldomero Burutzagi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Oliviero in the 97th minute of play. In the 99th minute, Elpidio Gabrio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. There was no doubt that Grütly were the better team. Grütly's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
