In the 9th minute, Bray McJon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Walmir Pombal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronaldo Medeiros was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. When Catugi FC's Carlos Alberto Soares in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Montevideo's goalie prevented a goal. Bray McJon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Reko Nybacka made a huge save. Reko Nybacka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernandão Recife, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute Carlos Alberto Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Soares in the 28th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmir Pombal in the 29th minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Laerte Lucas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montevideo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmir Pombal in the 40th minute of the match. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Soares in the 45th minute of play. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmir Pombal in the 46th minute of play.

After 55 played minutes Catugi FC got a freekick which was hit by Tristan Lenaerts. Ronaldo Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 67 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Laerte Lucas came free, but Reko Nybacka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Soares in the 73rd minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Tristan Lenaerts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute, Walmir Pombal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronaldo Medeiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Ronaldo Medeiros came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Catugi FC's Carlos Alberto Soares. But to his dismay, Carlos Alberto Soares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. If Laerte Lucas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Carlos Alberto Soares kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ronaldo Medeiros. That made the score 2-3 in the 88 minute of play. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Soares in the 91st minute of play. A collision led to Montevideo getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Laerte Lucas hit a great ball. Walmir Pombal took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ronaldo Medeiros. Ronaldo Medeiros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. The Catugi FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Catugi FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
