In the 6th minute there was a penalty for Lyon 69ers. Aloísio Lendaa stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Luiz Guilherme Vinhas. 0-1. The supporters of Vuntsidega Vägimehed booed when Lyon 69ers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salim Desbois didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute, Olav Voormansik reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Pierre Peeters. The goal made the score 1-1. Vuntsidega Vägimehed's Olav Voormansik got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lyon 69ers's Pierre Peeters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olav Voormansik in the 24th minute of play. When Olav Voormansik came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Vuntsidega Vägimehed fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olav Voormansik couldn't finish the play. In the 28th minute Olav Voormansik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierre Peeters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pierre Peeters took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ahmet Gündüz Saner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lyon 69ers's Pierre Peeters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olav Voormansik in the 36th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, one of Lyon 69ers:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lyon 69ers's goalkeeper Pierre Peeters, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 45 minutes into the match, Lyon 69ers's Rodolphe Berthon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Guilherme Vinhas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lyon 69ers's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Francis Graffin in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eraldo Fantini stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vuntsidega Vägimehed's Alo Kärson quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Salim Desbois, made in the 51st minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olav Voormansik in the 53rd minute of play forced Lyon 69ers's goalkeeper Pierre Peeters to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olav Voormansik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ahmet Gündüz Saner took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pierre Peeters. Pierre Peeters dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Ahmet Gündüz Saner managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vuntsidega Vägimehed's supporters rose to their feet, but Ahmet Gündüz Saner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pierre Peeters breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pierre Peeters took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olav Voormansik, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute Ahmet Gündüz Saner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierre Peeters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pierre Peeters showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olav Voormansik, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Lyon 69ers's Pierre Peeters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmet Gündüz Saner in the 81st minute of play. Luiz Guilherme Vinhas came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Lyon 69ers's Tom Beaune. But to his dismay, Tom Beaune quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. After a defensive mix-up in Lyon 69ers's zone, Olav Voormansik stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pierre Peeters came out of the goal and Olav Voormansik tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 92 minutes into the game, Vuntsidega Vägimehed's Olav Voormansik nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pierre Peeters made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. Lyon 69ers's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
