The Colo-Colo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rambo Ramírez should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivo Basay in the 9th minute of play forced Capo de Provincia's goalkeeper Héctor Barra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Capo de Provincia's Héctor Barra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivo Basay in the 13th minute of play. 15 minutes into the game, Colo-Colo's Ivo Basay nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Héctor Barra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Alejandro Martxelin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rambo Ramírez. That made the score 2-1 in the 18 minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Ivo Basay ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Héctor Barra was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. 37 minutes into the game, Qiao Qi threw the ball into play from the sideline. Colo-Colo's José Julio Almeida quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Héctor Barra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivo Basay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th match minute, Capo de Provincia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvador López to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Ivo Basay made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Capo de Provincia's Héctor Barra got control of the ball when Ivo Basay tried to sneak it across the goal line. 54 minutes into the match, Colo-Colo's Ivo Basay sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Héctor Barra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Héctor Barra was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ivo Basay showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-3 in the 58 minute of play. Héctor Barra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Basay in the 67th minute of play. Colo-Colo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Honorio Droguett in the 68th minute. A nice corner shot did that José Julio Almeida got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Héctor Barra quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Alejandro Martxelin struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Rambo Ramírez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Capo de Provincia. Capo de Provincia's David Villa was substituted for Christiano Cabañas. Colo-Colo made a substitution. Rubén Martínez replaced Ivo Basay. Colo-Colo's Emerson Pereira was substituted for Marco-Antonio Etcheverry. Héctor Barra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Honorio Droguett in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Jiménez in the 76th minute of play forced Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Rambo Ramírez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlitos Caszely came free with the goalkeeper in the 77th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Héctor Barra could save by the left post. 81 minutes into the match, Capo de Provincia's goal looked a bit too open when Rubén Martínez came free, but Héctor Barra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carlitos Caszely succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-4 in the 83rd playminute. With an all-out effort, Colo-Colo's Héctor Barra threw himself towards the right post 85 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Honorio Droguett, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Capo de Provincia's Héctor Barra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Capo de Provincia from getting a goal against them. With his leg Héctor Barra managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Colo-Colo had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
