The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Luan Alves threw the ball into play from the sideline. A collision led to Imbituba - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Samuca Camargo hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Guilherme Souza in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wellington Barbosa saved Vasco FC from getting behind. Guilherme Souza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wellington Barbosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. The throw-in from Luan Alves in the 15th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Imbituba - FSCMZ's Sérgio de Sena. After 16 played minutes Vasco FC got a freekick which was hit by Luan Alves. When Júnior Mattos fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Imbituba - FSCMZ's protests and gave Júnior Mattos a yellow card for diving instead. Júnior Mattos hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the game, Luan Alves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vasco FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Imbituba - FSCMZ the free kick. Vasco FC's Wellington Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guilherme Souza in the 22nd minute of play. Wellington Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesinha Vieira in the 23rd minute of play. After 26 minutes, Sérgio de Sena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Imbituba - FSCMZ and the Vasco FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco FC's zone, Guilherme Souza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wellington Barbosa came out of the goal and Guilherme Souza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wellington Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guilherme Souza in the 28th minute of the match. In the 31st minute of the match Imbituba - FSCMZ got a corner. Vasco FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cesinha Vieira ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Imbituba - FSCMZ's Cesinha Vieira to fire away a dangerous shot which Wellington Barbosa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Wellington Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guilherme Souza in the 33rd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Guilherme Souza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wellington Barbosa was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. In the 43rd match minute, Vasco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luan Alves to maneuver through the defense. Jailson Alves charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jailson Alves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vasco FC booed when Imbituba - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jailson Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gil Motta to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Imbituba - FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Samuca Camargo. Guilherme Souza received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Wellington Barbosa came out and tried to block the shot, but Guilherme Souza slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 55th minute. Wellington Barbosa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guilherme Souza in the 60th minute. In the 61st match minute, Imbituba - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jailson Alves to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Imbituba - FSCMZ's Guilherme Souza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Wellington Barbosa. That made the score 0-2 after 76 minutes of play. Wellington Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guilherme Souza in the 79th minute of play. Imbituba - FSCMZ made a substitution. Cristóvão Linares replaced Cesinha Vieira. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vasco FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jailson Alves was slow to take the kick. During this time Imbituba - FSCMZ's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Jailson Alves almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Vasco FC's Wellington Barbosa did a great save. Guilherme Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Wellington Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 97th minute, Guilherme Souza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Imbituba - FSCMZ's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
