In the 11th minute, Las 3R Club De Fútbol's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Wu Li Zhi fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. With an all-out effort, RIVER's Luís Islas threw himself towards the right post 12 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Niki Lauda, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Luís Islas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Niki Lauda went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Las 3R Club De Fútbol's Leonel Osmundo got a free kick in the 24th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Wu Li Zhi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luís Islas, 2-0. If Wu Li Zhi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. RIVER's Fidel Gora was substituted for Bruno Oxarra. In the 35th minute Niki Lauda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Islas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, RIVER's Niki Lauda ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luís Islas. Luís Islas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. In the 42nd minute, Fidel Gora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Niki Lauda managed to get in a good position for a shot. RIVER's supporters rose to their feet, but Niki Lauda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Islas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luís Islas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niki Lauda in the 45th minute of the match. RIVER's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Domingo Remigio in the 48th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enzo Scifo to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Otsoa in the 52nd minute of play forced RIVER's goalkeeper Marcial Lordi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Las 3R Club De Fútbol's zone, Eric Târban stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Islas came out of the goal and Eric Târban tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. RIVER made a substitution. Rosendo Osorio replaced Marco Rudolfo. The supporters of RIVER booed when Las 3R Club De Fútbol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesar Azeari didn't get a good kick on the ball. When RIVER's Eric Târban in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Luís Islas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niki Lauda, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. RIVER fully deserved thier win.
