In the 2nd minute, Dan Filimon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Damian Macovei proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save -BZF- Valea Buzăului from getting a goal against them. 13 minutes into the game, Filip Urseanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave -BZF- Valea Buzăului the free kick. After a rather tough play, -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's Filip Urseanu got a free kick in the 14th minute. A collision led to -BZF- Fc Gheraseni getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Virgil Nedelcea hit a great ball. After 19 played minutes, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Codruț Molodețiu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Octav Hortopan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in -BZF- Valea Buzăului reached it. A collision led to -BZF- Fc Gheraseni getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Aurelian Acalinei hit a great ball. In the 28th minute Rui Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octav Hortopan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 29 minutes of play, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Andriy Shevcenko made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Octav Hortopan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Grigore Purje kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 33rd minute of the match Codruț Molodețiu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Octav Hortopan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 36 minutes into the game, Rui Costa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Octav Hortopan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 39 minutes of play, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Pipo Inzaghi made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Octav Hortopan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Grigore Purje kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andriy Shevcenko to strike the kick off in the second half. -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's Octav Hortopan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save -BZF- Fc Gheraseni from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iulian Cozaru got free with Octav Hortopan in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Damian Macovei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dan Filimon, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Cristinel Niculescu hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Codruț Molodețiu tried to score from far away in the 63rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's Filip Urseanu got a free kick in the 64th minute. After a defensive mix-up in -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's zone, Andriy Shevcenko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Octav Hortopan came out of the goal and Andriy Shevcenko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 67th minute of the match, Iulian Cozaru tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Octav Hortopan saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 68th minute, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's Rui Costa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Grigore Purje kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. A hard shot by Codruț Molodețiu from long distance, 73 minutes into the match, got Octav Hortopan's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The crowd rose to their feet as Andriy Shevcenko kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Octav Hortopan. That made the score 0-5 in the 78 minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, -BZF- Valea Buzăului's goal looked a bit too open when Virgil Nedelcea came free, but Damian Macovei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Codruț Molodețiu's late challenge caught a -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Codruț Molodețiu helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of -BZF- Fc Gheraseni booed when -BZF- Valea Buzăului was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codruț Molodețiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 89 minutes, Corneliu Sântimbrean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Corneliu Sântimbrean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's zone, Pipo Inzaghi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Octav Hortopan came out of the goal and Pipo Inzaghi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The -BZF- Fc Gheraseni fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. -BZF- Valea Buzăului were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
