The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Firme Hirte in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Isidro Madureira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's Éder Póvoas got control of the ball when Porfírio Pedroso tried to sneak it across the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Balas F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Léo Giansanti came free, but Isidro Madureira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's Rúben Cortez got a free kick in the 12th minute. After having played for 13 minutes, Porfírio Pedroso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balas F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Porfírio Pedroso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Firme Hirte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Isidro Madureira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Wilson Trigueiro was slow to take the kick. During this time Balas F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Balas F.C.'s corner Wilson Trigueiro fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Éder Póvoas quite easily take care of the ball. After a rather tough play, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's Léo Giansanti got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 26 minutes into the match, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's goalkeeper Éder Póvoas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Porfírio Pedroso. In the 33rd minute Ronaldo Nazario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidro Madureira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Balas F.C.'s Isidro Madureira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Firme Hirte in the 34th minute of play. Éder Póvoas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timóteo Fontoura in the 36th minute of play. 38 minutes into the game, Ronaldo Nazario cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Isidro Madureira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Léo Giansanti during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th minute, Léo Giansanti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 47 played minutes, Balas F.C.'s Krasimir Balakov shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Éder Póvoas came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Balas F.C. reached it. The Balas F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA were winning 0-2.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rúben Cortez during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 51st match minute, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rúben Cortez to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Krasimir Balakov in the 68th minute of play forced A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's goalkeeper Éder Póvoas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Léo Giansanti came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Léo Giansanti couldn't finish the play. 78 minutes into the match, Balas F.C.'s goalkeeper Isidro Madureira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Firme Hirte. Through an outstanding action, after 79 minutes, Isidro Madureira successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The corner led A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's Luís Brandon to fire away a dangerous shot which Isidro Madureira despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Léo Giansanti hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. 84 minutes into the match, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's goal looked a bit too open when Angel Cordarrel came free, but Éder Póvoas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juliano Pinhal in the 87th minute of play forced A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's goalkeeper Éder Póvoas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st match minute, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bento Porto to maneuver through the defense. If Krasimir Balakov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
