The supporters of -BZF- Fc Gheraseni booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codruț Macaneață didn't get a good kick on the ball. With 9 minutes on the clock, Ioan Ghimiș commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 9th minute, Ioan Ghimiș hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aristide Fetea in the 10th minute of play forced -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's goalkeeper Octav Hortopan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Virgil Nedelcea fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 19 minutes, Dan Filimon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the -BZF- Fc Gheraseni and the PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 19th match minute, -BZF- Fc Gheraseni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Filimon to maneuver through the defense. Costel Gurgui lost his temper 23 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca:s Moise Ţurlău showed great skill when he stopped Corneliu Sântimbrean:s penalty. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Felix Mihăilescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Octav Hortopan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aristide Fetea in the 39th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aurelian Acalinei made a kick off. Felix Mihăilescu took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Octav Hortopan. Octav Hortopan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 54th minute, Silver Phoenix got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Aurelian Acalinei fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored -BZF- Fc Gheraseni's protests and gave Aurelian Acalinei a yellow card for diving instead. After 58 played minutes -BZF- Fc Gheraseni got a freekick which was hit by Aurelian Acalinei. Codruț Macaneață kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. The audience cheered when Corneliu Sântimbrean's long shot passed Moise Ţurlău's right side. It was 1-1, 62 minutes into the match. Moise Ţurlău made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelian Acalinei in the 66th minute of play. Moise Ţurlău showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgil Nedelcea in the 67th minute of the match.
