The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, F.C. YKE's Ion Ike got a free kick in the 3rd minute. After having played for 4 minutes, Anatoly Karpov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Maci -MM-'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Anatoly Karpov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 7 minutes into the match, FC Maci -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Nicodim Zbârcea came free, but Vladimir Kramnik reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, FC Maci -MM-'s Anatoly Karpov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Helmuth Duckadam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Helmuth Duckadam came out and tried to block the shot, but Anatoly Karpov slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 22nd minute. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind F.C. YKE's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by F.C. YKE's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Anatoly Karpov was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Maci -MM-'s players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Vlad Mavrogheni heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 32nd minute, Anatoly Karpov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Maci -MM- fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 41stth minute of the game Edgar Oblemenco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Maci -MM-'s Vladimir Kramnik was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Helmuth Duckadam showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sabin Miclauș in the 42nd minute of the match. Anatoly Karpov in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Helmuth Duckadam, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 47th minute FC Maci -MM- were awarded a corner. FC Maci -MM-'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
