After a defensive mix-up in PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's zone, Vadim Tudor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dacian Ghițescu came out of the goal and Vadim Tudor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Codruț Macaneață looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Virgil Jupân hit a great ball. 9 minutes into the match, Niculae Şantău dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dacian Ghițescu, 1-1. In the 12th minute, Niculae Şantău hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vlad Tepes's late challenge caught a PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vlad Tepes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Minerul Baita -MM- getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Vlad Tepes hit a great ball. Ciprian Alexe received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dacian Ghițescu came out and tried to block the shot, but Ciprian Alexe slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 23rd minute. Dacian Ghițescu came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Minerul Baita -MM-'s Ciprian Alexe. But to his dismay, Ciprian Alexe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Costel Gurgui kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Aristide Fetea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nistor Maghiar was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Niculae Şantău received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dacian Ghițescu came out and tried to block the shot, but Niculae Şantău slotted it home off the left post making it 4-1 in the 42nd minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ciprian Alexe made a kick off. Dacian Ghițescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Octav Albescu went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. In the 70th minute, Ciprian Alexe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ciprian Alexe kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Dacian Ghițescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vadim Tudor, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Ciprian Alexe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dacian Ghițescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vadim Tudor in the 84th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Vadim Tudor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Minerul Baita -MM-'s supporters rose to their feet, but Vadim Tudor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dacian Ghițescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dacian Ghițescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niculae Şantău in the 95th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Minerul Baita -MM- players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
